SGI produces new digital tools on the UN Nuclear Ban Treaty
On January 22, 2021, celebrating the entry into force of the UN Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (TPNW), SGI produced two digital tools — a visual storytelling tool and a handbook — to inform the public about the treaty and the significance of its entry into force toward the total prohibition and abolition of nuclear weapons.
The TPNW is the first international treaty to comprehensively ban all activities related nuclear weapons. As it entered into force, it has become an international law by which the states parties are bound to fulfill their obligations.
· Visual Storytelling Tool
This tool is a compilation of slides for visual storytelling to provide a brief introduction to the treaty and its significance. It was produced in cooperation with the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons (ICAN). You can download the slides here in English and Japanese.
· Handbook
This handbook briefly explains about what the treaty is about, how it was adopted, and what it envisions. It includes a couple of short questions and answers for discussion. You can read the handbook in English and Japanese. The printable files are also available in both English and Japanese.
